Antony has now completed 5 successful arctic expeditions, including 2 solo trips skiing over 1700 km, making him no stranger to the arctic wastes.
“Experience is crucial to a successful polar expedition”
With this previous experience and 3 years worth of training it is now time to make history, it is time to give a truly inspirational expedition to the worlds media. Antony plans on becoming the first Briton to obtain the North and South Geographic Poles as well as ski across Greenland in just 12 months. He has already completed Greenland and will now focus on reaching the poles by the end of May 2010.
Antony found out he was dyslexic at 21 whilst serving in the Royal Navy after leaving school. He struggled at school especially with the core subjects and his school reports often quoted “could do better”. Although he struggled in the classroom Antony loved the challenges of being on expedition and excelled in events like Ten Tors and the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, which he completed as an active member of the Air Training Corp.
After completing time in the Territorial Army and a short engagement in the Royal Navy, Antony dreamed of nothing else then to become an Expedition Leader by 25. He achieved this by becoming an International Mountain Leader through Plas y Brenin (British Mountaineering Centre). It is a core belief of Antony that you can achieve what ever you wish from life, it may take time in achieving it but with enough determination and effort you can make your dreams come true.
Antony now runs his own school outreach project speaking in schools and universities all over the country. His expeditions are fully interactive so that students are able to ask questions and actively take part, helping to make classrooms come alive and inspire through education.
“The future of the human race depends on educating our next generations on environmental awareness”.
