Applications for Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowships have just opened

Applications for “Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowships”:http://www.wcmt.org.uk have just opened, and continue until October.

Amongst the categories is one for ‘Adventure, Exploration and Leaders of Expeditions’. People like “Felicity Aston”:http://www.felicityaston.co.uk/expeditions.html and “Glenn Shaw”:http://www.glennshaw.co.uk/South/index.htm have successfully applied for fellowships in previous years. If you have a great idea, and if it meets the criteria, why not apply?.

Interviews for short-listed candidates will take place in January 2010. Expeditions need to take place between April 2010 and February 2011.

I have been lucky enough to have obtained a fellowship this year which has been a great benefit to my last expedition. Not only the extra funds but also the level of support from the trust itself. The letter of introduction to my work help gain the trust of the Inuit communities and was worth its weight in gold.

If you have an idea for an expedition, the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust is a first stop for making it come true.

The fund was put together as a national memorial to Sir Winston by public subscription and augmented by a generous Government. It was created to enable British citizens to conduct projects overseas and, in the process, learn about the life, work and people of other countries. Importantly and reflecting Sir Winston’s patriotism, Fellows are expedited to return able to make enhanced contributions to their community, trade or profession.

It was an honor to receive a Fellowship, why not have a look at the Trusts website at “http://www.wcmt.org.uk”:http://www.wcmt.org.uk
