Crossing Greenland – 19th April 2009

Well it is now just a few days until I depart again and head out once more to the Arctic. This time I am part of a team skiing 550 km across the massive Greenlandic Ice Cap.

The past two weeks have been an extremely busy time unpacking and sorting out kit, editing photographs and film footage. It doesn’t help that my flat has been turned into a building site, my other flat mates have seemed to have moved out but I never received the warning. Living in a building site and getting ready for the next expedition is no easy task but one you have to laugh at. My kitchen is un-usable as the ceiling is being taken down so its back to cooking on a stove, just like being on expedition.

I am proud that a total of 17 schools, colleges and universities got involved with my Baffin Island expedition and with this in mind I am keen to get back out knowing there is growing support for my outreach project. This expedition will focus on the mental challenge of being out on a icecap for an extended period of time, 24 – 30 days. Once again students will be able to ask questions directly to my Satellite Phone and actively take part on the project, I’ll then be able to send back blog, photos and audio files direct to my website.

It has been a difficult challenge to sort out two large expeditions back to back but I am now really looking forward to getting back out onto the ice.

The end of May and June I will return to concentrate on giving talks and presentations around the country in support of my school outreach project. If you would like to arrange a presentation please don’t hesitate to get in touch via the contact page or via my PA Mihaela, mihaela@antonyjinman.com
