It is my pleasure and delight to unveil my next expedition following the success of my recent North Pole expedition. Snowy Dartmoor Offers Great Training
Posted in , 235 days ago

January has offered a fantastic training opportunity due to all the snow and ice we have received. I have been out on the moor when ever I have been able to and wanted to share with you some of my training photographs and video of a beautiful Dartmoor covered in snow. A big thank you for Plymouth Art College supplying me with a video camcorder to help capture these moments.

In February 2010, I will embark on my greatest expedition to date: to ski to the Geographic North Pole and be one of the few Britons ever to have done so. In so doing, and in collaboration with Plymouth University, I will collect vital data which will be used in climatic modeling research. I am currently seeking sponsors for this expedition.

Training For The North Pole

Every other day I head out onto Dartmoor with my car full of tires, no matter what the weather. The tires I have rigged to simulate the weight of my sledge and have attached to my harness. These I pull for between 3 – 5 hours along land rover tracks across the moor. This is great training as it really helps develop the muscle groups needed whilst on expedition.

South Pole 2009 expedition is in jeopardy but instead of feeling down and saying “this is just not ever going to happen”, I simply look back over the past 12 months and can happily say that I have achieved 5 other expeditions and have developed a strong school following and backing. What can I achieve in the next 12 months?

After a fantastic expedition to Baffin Island, Plymouth Herald celebrates our success with a great article in the paper. Picture here is of Antony presenting the Plymouth City’s Coat of Arms to the mayor of Qikiqtarjuaq on Baffin Island. The coat of arms was presented to Antony by former Lord Mayor Brian Vincent to be passed to the people of Qikiqtarjuaq to say thank you for their help in teaching Plymouths children about the arctic environment.
