“The educational, inspirational and aspiration-raising potential of Polar expeditions has been recognised since Captain Scott’s expedition outreach work with schools. 100 years on, Antony Jinman and Education Through Expeditions are developing this educational concept in an innovative and exciting way. I am delighted to be working with them on developing the education outreach programme of the International Scott
Centenary Expedition Dr D.M.Wilson, great nephew, Edward Wilson of the Antarctic
“Antony has impressed us with both is expertise and enthusiasm. His first hand experience of polar conditions is vital in getting the message across to audiences who may never have the opportunity but who are concerned about the impact of climate change on polar regions. his willingness to support citywide climate change initiatives has also been noted and we look forward to working closely with him later in 2010. We wish him every success with his latest expedition.”
Jackie Young , Sustainable Development Manager , Plymouth City Council
As an explorer of the polar regions for over 20 years, I have seen first hand the real and grave impacts of climate change on our planet. It is critically important that we educate our young people on the reality of the climate crisis and inspire them to take action on solutions. Antony Jinman has launched a brilliant educational campaign, engaging youth from around the globe through his adventure experience. The world will benefit from Antony’s efforts to educate and inspire action, and I applaud him for his valiant work.

‘The children were enthused from the outset, especially the quieter ones! They had so many questions. The concept of the sea being frozen, at times, was difficult to comprehend, considering we are a coastal school. The childen were able to make many comparisons with their everyday life. As we do not have a vast amount of cultural diversity, and those contacts that we have tend to be with a hotter climate, this was an intriguing way to deal with this as well as all the environmental issues that arise,’
Susie Evans – Head teacher at Wembury Primary School.
“Antony has been very successful in making expeditions to the Arctic and highlighting concerns about global warming particularly in Baffin Island. He has visited schools in and around Plymouth stimulating young people to learn more about climate change, the Inuit population, the Arctic and Antarctic and Scott’s centenary. He is committed to arousing the interest of young people through his community interest company Education through Expeditions and Plymouth is very pleased to be able to work with him. Several schools hope to contact him by satellite phone and blog during his expedition to the North Pole. He has agreed to be a keynote speaker at a regional conference for teachers organised through the south-west international education network.”
