The team’s kit included a Satellite Phone, a Nikon D70, GPS, a large solar panel, EPRIB and a Google Earth Tracking System called Yellow Brick. Antony Jinman also opted to take Solar Technology’s Globe Trotter Bundle, specifically designed to provide all day power for those facing challenging climate conditions, tough terrain or long periods of time away from a power source. The Globe Trotter is a super fast, clean, green means to charge the latest gadgets whilst on the move. Using the latest in cutting edge solar technology to convert solar energy into electricity the Globe Trotter makes free power readily available for portable gadgets, and in this instance, Antony’s iPod.
“I mainly used the Globe Trotter to charge my iPod on the solo phase of the expedition. It was really simple to use, I just let it charge up during the day then at night in the comfort of the sleeping bag charged up the iPod. I was impressed with how much charge could be stored on fairly cloudy days. The temperatures were typically about -35′c to -45′c.”
