Tent of Choice – Nammatj 2

For next year’s expeditions I have decided to purchase a “Hilleberg”:http://www.hilleberg.com tent the Nammatj 2. Hilleberg make fantastic, sturdy tent s that can take the pounding of the strongest of arctic storms. I have used “Hilleberg”:http://www.hilleberg.com/ tents extensively as an outdoor instructor and expedition leader both here in the UK and in mountainous regions around the world. Their tried and tested and I know their worth.

What makes the “Hilleberg”:http://www.hilleberg.com/ tent even more unique to polar expedition is it’s easy to erect and anchor to the ground. The inner and outer parts of the tent do not have to be put up or taken down separately, it can all be done at once. When the tent is put up for the first time it’s just a simple case of collapsing one side of the tents poles, leaving the poles in the outer sheaves. The tent then collapses in on itself. The exposed halve of the poles can be folded back on themselves and the tent rolled up with the inner still attached inside the outer. When you come to set up it’s a simple task to just unfold the poles and push the poles back into place and the tent is erect again. Jobs good!

The two guide ropes at the front and rear also give extra support to the tent again making it a sturdy tent for the solo traveller. A ski at the front and back or two ice screws acting as pegs quickly secures the tent.

Lastly the porch of the tent is nice and spacious allowing for a comfortable cooking area. This is a 10/10 expedition tent for the polar regions! To find out more about Hilleberg tents “click here”:http://www.hilleberg.com
